You
have found the home of the Carolina Gassers. We are a group of Drag Racers committed to preserving the heritage of our roots.
This group is made up of the Anglias, Willys, Henry Js, Fiats as well as the old Chevys, Fords and Dodges that frequented
the drag strips of the late 60's and early 70's. Coming to see one of our shows is like taking a step back in time.
A step back to before all the rules and regulations governed all the cars to look and run the same. When we pull the trigger
on one of these unpredictable, often short wheel based, often ill handling creations, one thing is for sure - EXCITEMENT will
ensue. Come see our show but be prepared to have the way you think about drag racing changed forever......
We raced at Pageland Dragway
in Pageland South Carolina the first Saturday of every Month April through September 2008. Stay tuned for our 2009 schedule

July 5th Race at Pageland Dragway:Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July
weekend. The Carolina Gassers’ race on the 5th held at Pageland Dragway was a real
barn burner. A full 16 car field headed up by Jimmy Guillen rolled into the track around 4:00 with treating weather all around.
They were poised and ready to square off for a winner take all, head to head battle to the end. They ran in a round robin
format with only about 20 minutes between rounds. It was get it done or get wet trying. The Carolina Gassers delivered with
prompt response when called to the lanes and fierce action once on the track. When the smoke cleared there were only two left
standing. One, Todd Sinclair that is not unfamiliar with the Carolina Gassers winners circle and two, Gary Whipple in his
wicked fast 5.30 model T roadster. Due to some close thunderstorms the announcement was made that the lanes were closed and
the last pair of cars to go down the track would be the finalist of the Carolina Gassers. All the fans stayed in the stands
and they were on there feet. With lighting flashing in the not so far off distance Todd and Gary pulled into the water box.
Todd Sinclair left first but by half track Gary Whipple and made up the difference. Gary’s car made a pretty hard move
toward the center line and we all thought he would surely have to lift but Gary held on to take the win by only a margin the
electronic clock could record. Rain began to fall no more than 10 minutes after that run but by then everyone welcomed mother
natures nourishing refreshment because the Carolina Gassers had done what they came to do, drag race, Gasser style!
